Business Central (v22) - Leveraging AI Copilot for Marketing Text in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

As many of you, everyone has heard of OpenAI and ChatGPT. Additionally, you’ve heard of AI Copilot. There’s been a lot of discussion on how this is all trickling down to virtually all Microsoft products, including Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Business Central.

A notable application of AI Copilot in Business Central is in the creation of smart and effective Marketing Text feature. Writing engaging, effective marketing text can be a complex task, even for seasoned marketers and sometimes very time consuming. However, with AI Copilot, Dynamics 365 Business Central provides a tool that can enhance the process and improve the results. Very useful if you do not have a large marketing team or enhancing your marketing context.

Here's how it works: You provide AI Copilot with some basic information about the item in the form of Item Attributes, and it generates a range of potential marketing texts. You can then review these suggestions, make adjustments based on available settings.

So how do you test this functionality? Let’s find out but first, make sure your environment is on the latest version that this feature is available, Dynamics 365 Business Central 2023 Wave 1.

From the Item Card, ensure that you have the proper attribute data:

Open the item card that you want to generate the marketing text and click Create with Copilot. This will generate a product marketing text based on your attributes, as-is.

Once it generates the Marketing Text, you will have the option to Edit what it generated and make some adjustments to the settings.

If you have multiple attributes that you want to exclude, you can do so. Uncheck the attributes that you don’t need for AI Copilot to consider.

You can also adjust the format and length of the marketing text and the options are:

• Tagline

• Paragraph

• Tagline + Paragraph (Default)

• Brief

Additionally, you can click on More Settings, giving you more controls of how it generates the Marketing Text. In this example, I am going to change the quality to “Elegance”. But you have multiple options.

I will also be adjusting the Tone of voice to “Formal” but you have a slew of options.

Once you have made your adjustments to the additional settings, click on Create Draft. As you can see, the original Marketing Text have been adjusted based on the additional settings that I have set.
