Business Central - BC in Teams!

A recent announcement during Directions EMEA 2022, held in Hamburg, Germany, Microsoft made available a full fledge Business Central add-on to Microsoft Teams! Microsoft also announced that you can access Microsoft Dynamics Business Central data with a minimum of a M365 license. Giving your users a Read-Only access with simplified UI. This is incredible!

An organization who has a lot of users who doesn’t necessarily need full access to Business Central can interact with BC. This means easier collaboration and seamless business process flows.

This feature is now generally available. This is seamless if you are already on Business Central SaaS. To enable this, you will need administrator access to your tenant, so you can publish and add Business Central app add-on within your Teams tenant.

From Microsoft Teams, navigate to “Apps” section and search for Business Central. Click on the application and proceed with install. Once it is installed, users will be able to add to their favorite channel or from a chat. From an administrator’s perspective, you can also add it globally to a channel as a tab.

When you add Business Central to a team or chat, you will be prompted to identify which environment and company, followed by which records. The options are:

• Customers

• Vendors

• Items

• Bank Accounts

• Chart of Accounts

That’s pretty much it! Very simple but yet very powerful for your organization to enable. As with any access, security is important. Users who have access to Business Central, it still respects to your Permission Sets assigned to users, as you can see from another user who are limited with records visibility.
