Business Central - Account Schedule renamed to Financial Reports

“One Day, it’ll all make sense.”

I’ve always wondered why it was called Account Schedules when I first came across these sets of reports in Dynamics NAV. As Microsoft progressed, moving to Business Central, Microsoft made slight changes along the way. Making sense of what didn’t make sense originally and that is Account schedules.

When I first came across it, trying to understand it, it felt like they were financial reports. Essentially, they were financial reports. I remember when I was helping an organization implement NAV and even the early versions of Business Central, users would ask me if Microsoft’s ERP have built-in Financial Reports. Well, my answer was yes and no. Letting the user know that the reason why I said “No”, is because that is not what it is called. It was called account schedules and they had the same confused look that I had. And Yes, it is a financial report.

Well, I am glad that Microsoft renamed it to Financial Reports. One awesome thing about it is that for those who’s been around using NAV, users can still search for “Account Schedules” and it will take them to Financial Reports. Good on ya’ Microsoft and thank you for making sense of what didn’t make sense in the beginning.
